1. To begin my e-Portfolio I decide to utilize the interface called Weebly. This is a tool that is very easy to use and navigate for new users who are looking to create their own website. 2. After logging in, I went to the “Add Site” button to create my e-Portfolio website. They give you plenty of options for themes to choose from, for my website I picked the theme “Cento”. Although this theme seemed boring, I felt that with my creative abilities I could make it what I envisioned fairly easy. 3. After picking my theme, Weebly directed me to pick a domain name. I wanted to keep my website professional but also have a little bit of my personality. I picked the domain name of Simply Harvey. 4. After completing all the necessary steps for the settings of my website it was time to begin editing. I went through the theme that I had chosen and deleted the information that wasn't needed, changed my background colors and selected the font style. 5. Once the website was ready to create, I began re-naming the pages to match the assessment guidelines for task 1. To change the names I clicked on the “Pages” tab and selected the pages I wanted to re-name. Working my way from the top to the bottom I changed the names of each page to the following: “Home”, “Print Instructional Materials”, “Graphic Instructional Materials”, “Multimedia Instructional Materials”, “ Task 1: Creating my e-Portfolio”, and Task 3: Creating Multimedia Project”. 6. To prepare each page for the coming tasks, I went to each page and created a title along with a text box that states “Content to be added later on.”. This is an indicator to the readers that more information will be coming at a later time.
7. After finishing up the formatting for my content pages I returned to my “Home” page to begin working on the final touches. Below the tab selections and above my title “Professional e-Portfolio for Jordan Harvey”, I added a picture of a laptop with other technology surrounding it. Since I am working towards a masters in Technology I felt that it was fitting to add this image to the homepage of my website. Afterwards, I added the website title “Simply Harvey” at the top. 8. Below the title “Professional e-Portfolio for Jordan Harvey”, I took the time to add a little blurb about myself, the purpose of the website and what will be included in the tasks moving forward. Additionally, I added a few photos of myself, my husband and our adorable puppy. I wanted to give this website a sense of comfort and those pictures help to bring that idea to life. 9. Lastly, I wanted to pay recognition to the University that I am attending in hopes that others may attend as well. I added a button titled “Western Governors University Teachers College” that is directly linked to the main page of WGU’s Teachers College and can give my website viewers more information about the school and the programs they offer for teachers.
10. After formatting and completing all of the requirements for the first task, I published my site by clicking on the blue button in the top right corner that says “Publish”. After publishing my site I took the time to go through all of my pages and make sure that all of my pages work properly.
